Tools to help you access information in a variety of languages if there is a disaster/emergency
The Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR) has produced a very useful computer tool that provides a variety of information for foreign residents in many languages (text files and sound files). Information is posted in six languages (English, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog), with more simplified information posted in four other languages (Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian and Russian). Using this computer tool, lifestyle-related and disaster-related information can be provided in a variety of languages at emergency shelters (information signboards etc.).

- Multilingual Sign (Signboard) Sheet Creation Tool
- Mobile Phone Multilingual Information Creation Tool
- Multilingual Audio Information Creation Tool
(NB: These tools must be installed onto the user's computer).
It is very difficult to use these information tools for the first time after a disaster has happened. Please make sure you trial these tools in advance. There are many types of useful information available in many languages, as well as many signs which can be created and used at emergency shelters.
Think ahead and prepare useful multilingual signs and information in advance.
