Q&A of A New Residency Management System PART 1

Q= What's the difference between "Resident Card" and "Alien Registration Card"?

A= ・A resident card will be issued only to the foreign nationals who are permitted to stay in Japan for the mid-to long -term (for more than 90 days), but not to those staying in Japan illegally.
・By looking at a resident card, it will be easily distinguished whether the foreigner has a working permit or not.
・Almost all the information needed for registration used to be listed on an alien card.
On the other hand, minimal information is listed on a resident card for the purpose of the personal information protection.
・If deemed necessary for a certificate of seal, civil contract, registration of property for establishing a company, opening a bank account, etc., an alien registration card could be issued even to those who planned to stay in Japan for 90 days or shorter, but under the new system, no resident card will be issued to those people.
