Japanese Language Education Support and Interpretation Volunteer Service
What is "Support for Children" Programme?
Shimane International Center (SIC) registered volunteers will be introduced to foreign residents and returning Japanese families if a request is received from a school or Board of Education.
These volunteers can provide services such as "Japanese Language Support" and "Interpretation, Translation Support" for students at school.
How to dispatch a "Support for Children" Volunteer...

* After a volunteer has been dispatched, the "Support for Children Volunteer" will talk about details of the child with the person in charge of the school directly.
Dispatch Conditions
- Number of Times
- A student who has been in Japan for less than six months may have an interpreter three times/week. A student who has lived in Japan for between six months and three years may have an interpreter once a week. (as a general rule). Each support visit will be a maximum of four hours.
- Report
- The "Support for Children Volunteer" will report progress to the person in charge of each school every month. The person in charge of the school will submit this report to SIC through the Board of Education by the 5th day of the following month.
- Expenses
- The person making the request is required to make a gratitude payment to the volunteer and also pay for travel expenses.
