This will be my last edition of The Shimanean. At the end of July I will leave my post at the Shimane International Center after two very enjoyable and rewarding years as a Coordinator for International Relations. I wish my successor, Nicholas Sebel (a fellow Australian) all the best as he settles into this position from August. I would like to take this opportunity to thank copy-editor, Alicia Stevens, for her advice and attention to detail, as well as all readers of The Shimanean for their continued support. Finally, I would like to say a big thank you to our contributing authors and photographers. Your words and pictures are legacies that remain long after you have left Shimane.
