1 Sept. Kakinomoto Shrine Hassaku Festival - Kakinomoto Shrine, Masuda City
A lively festival to celebrate the birth of a famous poet Kakinomoto Hitomaro and pray for a rich harvest.

11 Sept. Niwabi Festival - Kuwano Taisha Shrine, Yakumo (From 7pm)
Enjoy a performance of Indian dancing in the grounds of Kuwano Taisha Shrine amongst the gentle glow of bonfires

25-30 Sept. Matsue Suitoro - Matsue Castle and surrounds, Matsue (From 6pm)
A festival of water and light including the illumination of Matsue Castle and its surrounds, as well as night cruises on the Horikawa River (The castle’s moat).
Admission: A free shuttle bus service will operate from Matsue JR and Matsue Lake Shinji Onsen Stations from 5pm. An Admission fee is required for the night cruise.

10-12 Oct. Izumo Yaoyorozu Kamisake Festival - Shell Pier Nakanoshima, Hirata-shi
Every year, all the gods meet in Japan at Izumo Taisha Shrine. The gods are said to meet in Hirata, the home of the god of Sake, for a drinking party. Come and try Japanese Sake from around Japan and around the world. Entertainment, such as Kagura (Shinto music and dance) will also be performed on stage.

Matsue Dougyouretsu / Musha Gyouretsu Prefectural Office Grounds, MatsueLarge Taiko drums, with a diameter of 1m or more, are played as they are moved by teams in a lively procession around the city. The musha gyouretsu features a parade of locals dressed in traditional samurai costume.
